Background:
The Takanami Clan is one of the oldest clans in Kirigakure, having already existed far before the hidden villages were even formed. Old writings confirm that people holding the Takanamis bloodline existed many centuries ago. It was only when an unknown bearer of that bloodline bundled the majority of the people bearing it in one group of shinobi that the actual Takanami Clan was born. As one large force, the Clan would fight for the cause of any country willing to pay for them. Due their skills at aquatic combat, countries next to the sea were more than willing to hire them.

Rather than rise, the Takanami Clan is one of the few clans who witnessed a downfall. Ever since they joined Kirigakure, the village that represented their country, the Takanami Clan has done nothing but thin out and argue with the rest of the village. Especially when the economy of the Water Country, and thus Kirigakure as well, dropped dramatically, people tend to blame their troubles on the different ones: the Takanami. Due their pale skin and white eyes, the Takanami Clan had to resist a lot of violence, especially from the lower classes of Kirigakure.

The discrimination of the clan is dwindling these days. The economy of the country has significantly grown and Kirigakure is no longer known as the village hidden in the bloody mist. Though the clan is being less and less mocked by their fellow shinobi, they are still thinning out badly. Due the fact their Kekkai Genkai has recessive genes, children from a Takanami clanmember and an other person tend not to develop the bloodline. They are a dying clan, obviously, and their bloodline is becoming rarer and rarer every year. It is only a matter of time before the ancient people of the Takanami go extinct.
